Downtown LA Signature Gathering Training for the 2012 Ballot Initiative Campaign to have GMO Foods labeled.

This will be a 1-hour training session to learn how to gather valid signatures. Legalities and techniques (such as the Two-Person Team method) will be covered.

Many of us currently Eat Genetically Engineered Food, But Don't Know It.
A genetically engineered food is a plant or meat product that has had its DNA artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria, in order to produce foreign compounds in that food. This type of genetic alteration is not found in nature, and is experimental. The correct scientific term is "transgenics," and is also often referred to as (GE) genetically engineered.

Much of the world already requires Labeling of Genetically Engineered Foods.
50 countries with over 40% of the world's population already label genetically engineered foods, including the entire European Union. Even China labels genetically engineered foods. California has the opportunity to lead the US on this important issue.

A Simple Proposition for California in 2012 ::
The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act is simple :: The initiative would simply require food sold in retail outlets to be labeled if it contains genetically engineered ingredients.

The Electric Jesus: The Healing Journey of a Contemporary Gnostic
Chakra Activation & Storytelling
with Evolver & Co-Founder Jonathan Talat Phillips

When Jonathan Talat Phillips experienced a devastating loss as a countercultural media activist, he unwittingly embarked on a mystical journey marked by underground ayahuasca ceremonies, kundalini awakenings, prankster spirit guides, shapeshifting extraterrestrials at the Burning Man festival, and miraculous energy healings that reshaped his skeptical worldview. In The Electric Jesus (edited by bestselling 2012 author Daniel Pinchbeck), Phillips chronicles the rise of an international movement that is trailblazing visionary ways to address our current planetary crisis through raised consciousness. Phillips delves into his own Christian background, discovering the lost rites of the mystery schools and their secret “electric” messages concerning personal transformation and a potential evolutionary shift for our world.

The night will open with musical performances by Miranda Rondeau, Sunny Solwind and Dylan Byrne and a chakra activation to get our energies flowing, followed by a reading, and a community discussion about the Evolver Social Movement and a rising consciousness culture flowering across the planet.

HOW TO THRIVE :: What Foster Gamble's controversial new film means for humanity

Join Foster Gamble, director of THRIVE, and Daniel Pinchbeck, editorial director of Reality Sandwich, for an intimate and unique conversation regarding the release, the impact and the next steps for the documentary THRIVE.

THRIVE is an unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what's really going on in our world by following the money upstream - uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives. Weaving together breakthroughs in science, consciousness and activism, THRIVE offers real solutions, empowering us with unprecedented and bold strategies for reclaiming our lives and our future.

Our intention through this dialog will be to provide a deeper inquiry into many of the ideas expressed in the film, and to discuss the active steps being made through the Thrive Movement.

FEATURED GUEST ::

12008 Foster Gamble

Foster Gamble is the President & Co-Founder of Clear Compass Media; Creator, Host, Co-Writer, and Director of Visual Design for THRIVE

At age 14, Foster Gamble had a vision where he glimpsed what he perceived to be the Universe's fundamental energy pattern. He spent the next 35 years trying to figure out the details and implications of what he had seen. That quest took two paths: a scientific journey and an exploration of the human potential to navigate successfully through the challenges threatening our survival. THRIVE represents the convergence of these two paths.

Furthering his exploration of what was keeping humanity from thriving, Foster spent nearly a decade "following the money" in every sector of human endeavor. The process revealed an understanding of our predicament that led him to create the strategic solutions offered in THRIVE. For Foster's full bio please view [http://www.thrivemovement.com/about_us]

Testimonials ::

In hindsight, what I did in the workshop last January was construct the engine that drove my year. It motivated my decisions--not necessarily easy ones, but ones that always resulted in positive change. I read more, I camped, I saved money, I cooked more, and I made two of the biggest professional and personal choices of the past couple years. This sounds like an infomercial but it's true.
Luke

"It profoundly influenced the course of my year to take the time in a sacred communal manner to really examine the narrative that was the previous 365+ days of my life. This workshop had my full attention as the exceptionally grounded facilitators provided the tools and generated the space for me to creatively focus on setting my core intention for the coming cycle of seasons. I would recommend it to anyone who could benefit from the support of community in pushing the boundaries of their potential reality.” Baza

“Ever since 2009 when I first took this workshop with my years have been solidified with intentions that have manifested to my liking. I traveled to Kathmandu alone, I have lost weight, I have a new partner in my life...just to name a few. Because of the simple questions and suggestions offered I have been able to visit tenderly the dark places of non-manifestation (from the previous year) and crack light onto it for the new year with Eden's guidance, candor, and love. She is specific, inviting, and she gets it done! I know I have. Thank you!" Lynn

From Cairo to Wall Street, all over the world people are coming together to create change, organizing without top-down leadership or hierarchies. In thousands of groups everywhere, people work together to create everything from community gardens to media to new ways of living. Such circles can be enormously creative and empowering, but they can also be cumbersome and frustrating. Yet when they work well, they liberate our imagination and change the world.

11059 Empowerment Manual

In her latest book, The Empowerment Manual, A Guide for Collaborative Groups, Starhawk draws on four decades of experience in circles and collectives to show us how to foster connection, clear communication and positive power in ourselves and our groups.

In this workshop, we will use the tools of magic, meditation, trance, and ritual to explore issues of personal and social power. We'll look at ways to create nurturing and healing group structures, to deal with difficult people and embrace constructive conflict. We'll raise and focus group energy to celebrate our connectedness and nurture resilient communities that can be joyful and effective agents of change.

Winter Solstice Ritual
After the workshop and a delicious organic meal, we will celebrate the longest night of the year with a Winter Solstice ritual and Spiral Dance led by Starhawk and Reclaiming LA. The Experiment :: Genetically Modified Foods & You

Join Evolver Los Angeles, Project Butterfly, & Organic Authority as we welcome leading experts on genetically modified foods for a candid panel discussion on the issue and how we can help California become the first state to make the labeling of all food containing GMOs mandatory.

According to the California Department of Health and Agriculture, nearly 80 percent of all processed foods sold in the U.S. contain genetically modified ingredients. Ninety-three percent of all soy and cotton, 90 percent of canola and 86 percent of corn grown in the U.S. are genetically modified.

The rise in food allergies, asthma, birth defects and many other serious human health issues associated with GMOs has the public demanding transparency on par with regulations throughout the rest of the developed world.

In 2011, the USDA approved the deregulation of genetically modified alfalfa, sugar beets, HoneySweet plums, Kentucky bluegrass, and the first-ever GMO animal intended for human consumption: Aqua Bounty's AquAdvantage salmon.

As GMOs become more prevalent in our food system, farmers are experiencing unprecedented issues including pesticide resistant 'superweeds' and insects, and soil quality issues. Scientists have discovered new pathogens found in livestock fed GMOs and declining butterfly populations have been linked to the glyphosate pesticide commonly known as Monsanto's Roundup, which has also been found in ground water, rain water and air samples.

This evening will feature a brief presentations and a panel with ::

Project Butterfly,David Bronner,Evolver LA,GMOs,Dr Bronners Magic Soap
David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps. Fresh off a 2 week 313-mile march from New York City to Washington DC, David will share stories from the Right2Know March and why we need to label GMOs now.

Pamm Larry is a grandmother from Chico, CA. On January 20 of this year, she had the idea that it was time for the people of California to vote on a ballot initiative to label genetically engineered foods and to remind people of the power we hold when we unite for change. She learned about the initiative process, developed a strategy and "came out" on March 10. Since that day, starting as one, she has been traveling around the state, meeting with folks and sparking local groups to educate their communities about GMOs and their chance to get them labeled. She is excited to now be part of an ever growing coalition that will get GMO Labeling on the ballot, then voted in YES in 2012.

Awakening The Third Eye
2-day Meditation Workshop led by Tracey Stanton in Los Angeles

This 2 day workshop is an introduction to the work of the Clairvision® School, a school of meditation and spirituality, and the techniques of Samuel Sagan, MD, its founder. It presents a systematic process to begin developing the third eye, which is the command center of the body of energy. Using the third eye is a tradition way to internalize your consciousness, awaken subtle perception to inner worlds and manage your body of energy. The Clairvision techniques taught over the weekend are straightforward - more than relaxation or visualization they bring an awakened clarity to all aspects of your daily activities. www.clairvision.org

In this talk and book signing, Charles Eisenstein explains how the transition to such a money system is already underway, borne of the converging crises of our time. Join him for a fascinating exploration of the personal, economic, political, and mythic dimensions of the transition.

“I consider Charles Eisenstein one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time. Rarely have I met a person who combines such philosophical and spiritual depth with such practical insights into the cultural and institutional origins of the potential terminal dysfunctions of modern society, and the potential solutions.”
